Thirteen-year-old Gavin “Goose” Rogers tragically lost his life in a shooting near the intersection of Heroy Avenue and Regal Street.
A memorial service was held in his honor, drawing dozens of community members, friends, and family who gathered for a candlelight vigil and balloon release to remember the young teen.
Authorities reported that Rogers was transported to a nearby hospital after the shooting but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
Neighbors in the area stated they heard five to six gunshots during the incident.
