PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH – A tragic collision on State Route 104 Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of a 20-year-old Circleville man, according to Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 2:35 PM on March 11, 2025, reporting a serious crash and explosion involving a semi-truck and a Ford Mustang just north of Van Meter Road.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a Kenworth semi-truck and a black 2020 Ford Mustang severely damaged from the collision. Investigators determined that the Mustang, traveling southbound, crossed the center line and struck the northbound semi head-on.
The semi-truck was operated by 47-year-old Clarence E. Davis of Blackshear, Georgia, who was transported to Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital by Harrison Township EMS for treatment of injuries.
The driver of the Mustang, identified as 20-year-old Nathaniel H. Johnston of Circleville, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene by Harrison Township EMS.
Sheriff Hafey expressed his appreciation for the swift response and assistance from Harrison Township Fire and EMS, Pickaway Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, the Circleville Fire Department, the Pickaway County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
