21-year-old NE woman, Michelle Gonzalez killed by boyfriend Ibrahim Alhamadani in Wednesday’s incident near 84th and Sandalwood Drive

Lincoln police have identified the 21-year-old woman killed in a fatal domestic disturbance earlier this week as Michelle Gonzalez. Authorities are now classifying Wednesday’s incident near 84th and Sandalwood Drive as a murder-suicide.

Officers responded to reports of a woman being struck by a vehicle. According to police, two good Samaritans stopped to help Gonzalez, placing her in their SUV to move her away from the scene. However, the driver of the black vehicle that initially struck her began pursuing them at high speed.

Moments later, the black car rammed the SUV, causing it to spin out and crash into the front yard of a nearby home. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Ibrahim Alhamadani, then exited his vehicle, approached the SUV, and fatally shot Gonzalez.

When officers arrived, they found Alhamadani dead and Gonzalez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries.

Lincoln Police Chief Michon Morrow confirmed Gonzalez sustained gunshot wounds to her head, chest, and abdomen.

Authorities revealed that Gonzalez and Alhamadani were in a relationship. Just hours before her death, Gonzalez had filed for and been granted a protection order against him. In court documents, she accused Alhamadani of repeated violence, including pushing her to the ground, hitting her, and threatening her with a firearm. The most recent incident, detailed in the protection order, occurred Wednesday when Gonzalez alleged Alhamadani pistol-whipped and repeatedly punched her over a dispute about a Facebook picture.

According to reports, it was not Alhamadani’s first history of domestic violence. Two other women had been granted protection orders against him in 2019 and 2020. The latter case resulted in felony charges, including false imprisonment and domestic assault, after he allegedly held a former girlfriend at knifepoint and threatened to kill her.

Lincoln police say their investigation into Wednesday’s deadly encounter remains ongoing. Officials have also confirmed that the two good Samaritans involved in the incident were uninjured and are receiving support.
