26-year-old Dayla Swain killed in shooting and crash outside Anderson nightclub; Two others injured

ANDERSON, IN — A tragic event occurred outside an Anderson nightclub early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old woman and injuries to two others following a shooting and a vehicle-related accident.

The deceased has been identified as Dayla Swain, 26, according to the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

The Anderson Police Department (APD) responded to reports of gunfire around 3 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, at Sonny Ray’s, located at 1536 S. Madison Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that shots had been fired outside the venue, striking two women.

Swain was found critically injured in the roadway near the scene, while another woman was located in front of a nearby residence, also suffering from gunshot wounds.

Swain was rushed to a hospital in Indianapolis, where she later died from her injuries. The second woman was taken to a local hospital and is receiving medical treatment.

In the confusion following the shooting, a third woman was reportedly hit by a vehicle. Police say she later sought treatment at a nearby hospital, but her condition has not been disclosed.

No arrests have been made as of now, and the investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are working to gather evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview potential witnesses.
