CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit has launched an investigation following a deadly shooting that occurred late Saturday night in the heart of the city’s Central Division.
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Trade Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, in response to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon resulting in injury. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Qualo Trevon Danials. His next of kin have been notified, police said.
In the aftermath of the shooting, homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin an investigation. Crime Scene Search teams processed the area for physical evidence, while representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC also responded to assist with the case.
CMPD officials stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not released any information regarding a suspect or motive at this time.
