37-year-old Marie Hunt and 35-year-old Mark Henshaw dead from gunshot wounds—

On August 8, 2025, police in Raynham, Massachusetts, responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a home on Elm Street West. Arriving around 12:05 p.m., officers found two unharmed children inside.

In a locked second-floor bedroom, they found 37-year-old Marie Hunt and 35-year-old Mark Henshaw dead from gunshot wounds—Hunt to the abdomen and Henshaw to the head. Both were residents of the home. Authorities found no signs of forced entry and confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The case is under active investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office, and Raynham Police. Officials have not confirmed a motive, suspect, or whether the incident was a murder-suicide or double homicide. Investigators are reviewing forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Family members are reeling from the tragedy. Hunt’s brother, Justin Firsch, described her as energetic and supportive, noting she had worked as a prison guard in Bridgewater for seven to eight years. He said he barely knew Henshaw and was unsure about the nature of their relationship.

The two children, aged 6 and 7, are now with their father. A 20-year-old nephew—who had previously lost his father—has now lost his mother as well. Firsch said the family has no clear understanding of what happened.

The locked bedroom, lack of forced entry, and discovery of the victims in bed have raised questions about the circumstances. Authorities have assured the community that the situation is contained, though the investigation remains ongoing.
