EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — A 60-year-old Middlesex County man walked into a local police station Friday and confessed to killing his wife, according to authorities.
Ashraf Tawfik, a resident of East Brunswick, arrived at police headquarters around 12:15 p.m. and told officers that he had killed his wife, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Officers responded to Tawfik’s home on Yorktown Road, where they discovered 58-year-old Marsail Botros unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tawfik was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, along with two weapons offenses. He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.
