HOT SPRINGS, AR — Lane Murphy, 22, of Plumerville, died early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Garland County, according to the Arkansas State Police.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:42 a.m. on Highway 5 near Millcreek. Investigators say Murphy was driving a 2022 Nissan northbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2022 Chevrolet driven by 22-year-old Gavan M. Mason of Hot Springs.
Murphy’s vehicle veered off the roadway and came to rest facing north. The Chevrolet exited the road, re-entered, and overturned. Mason was transported to CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs for treatment of his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Murphy’s death has left his community heartbroken. Born on June 18, 2002, to Regan and Amber Murphy, Lane was their only child—a young man remembered not only for his humor and adventurous spirit but for his deep kindness and unshakable faith.
Described by loved ones as “equal parts kind-hearted and ornery,” Murphy brought joy and laughter to every space he entered. Whether lighting up a bonfire with friends or sharing quiet encouragement in a time of need, he left a lasting impression with his warmth, spontaneity, and compassion.
Those close to him say Murphy lived with rare freedom and sincerity, always eager to connect, uplift, and make others laugh. His faith in God was a guiding force in his life—reflected not in grand declarations, but in everyday acts of love, forgiveness, and encouragement.
Lane Murphy’s sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on through the stories he leaves behind and the lives he touched with his boundless spirit and generous heart.
