AKRON, OH — The Green Bulldog Wrestling Club and the wider Akron community are mourning the tragic and unexpected passing of Emmerich Burdeshaw, a 14-year-old student and athlete at Green Middle School. Emmerich died in the early hours of Tuesday, June 10, leaving behind a heartbroken family and community.

Known for his passion, energy, and kindness, Emmerich was a multi-sport athlete who excelled in wrestling, soccer, and football. A junior high school standout, he was remembered by teammates and coaches as a spirited competitor and a deeply compassionate young man—both on and off the field.

“Emmerich was a spirited teammate and fierce competitor,” the Green Bulldog Wrestling Club shared in a tribute on social media. “He will be profoundly missed by the entire Green Wrestling Community.”

His presence was also deeply felt within the Green Soccer Association (GSA), where he played for the U14 boys team and the Green Soccer Academy. “As intense of a player as he was on the field, he was also compassionate, gentle, and humble off of it,” GSA wrote in a statement. “He was an amazing person and teammate who will be missed beyond what words can express.”

In addition to his athletic achievements, Emmerich was actively involved in the German Family Society, where he participated in traditional German dancing and cultural events. Those who knew him describe a vibrant, happy teen with a wide smile, a kind soul, and a willingness to lift others—both friends and opponents.
