The Norfolk Police Department is continuing its investigation into a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, claiming the life of Brenden J. Holland, 19, of Norfolk.
Authorities responded around 4:00 a.m. on June 15 to the 1500 block of Terminal Boulevard following reports that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located the crashed vehicle with Holland, the sole occupant, inside.
Despite efforts from first responders, Holland was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators with the department’s Auto Fatality Team have taken over the case and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. At this time, the exact cause remains under investigation, and it is unclear whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role.
Terminal Boulevard was temporarily closed early Sunday as police conducted on-site reconstruction and gathered evidence from the scene.
