Houston, TX – The University of St. Thomas and the greater Houston community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lance Khan, a beloved student-athlete whose life was tragically cut short in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025, following a devastating accident.

Lance, a proud member of the University of St. Thomas baseball team, was more than just a promising athlete—he was a beacon of positivity, resilience, and unwavering faith. The youngest of four sons to Michelle and Romail Khan, Lance brought joy, warmth, and light to all who knew him.

Described by family and friends as a “happy-go-lucky” young man, Lance was known for his infectious smile, his generous spirit, and his ability to make those around him feel seen and valued. His presence could brighten a room, his laughter was contagious, and his authenticity made him beloved by teammates, classmates, and coaches alike.

Lance’s passion for baseball began early, with his journey on the diamond starting at Lamar Little League, where he was quickly recognized as a gifted and driven player. “He was a fierce competitor,” one former coach recalled. “But he always played with joy and heart—traits that made him stand out, not just as an athlete, but as a leader and a teammate.”

Lance’s love for the game and dedication to his craft carried him to the collegiate level, where he wore the St. Thomas jersey with pride and purpose. His time as a Celts baseball player was marked by hard work, humility, and an unwavering desire to grow—not just as a player, but as a person.

Beyond the field, Lance’s life was marked by a profound and courageous battle with cancer—a battle he fought and overcame with grace, strength, and unshakable faith. Even during his most difficult treatments, Lance never wavered in his positivity. He continued to show up with that signature smile and a determination that inspired everyone who walked alongside him.

Lance was a source of strength not only to his family but to the many communities he was a part of—his school, his teams, his church, and his friends. His life, though far too short, was one lived with intention and heart. He made an indelible mark everywhere he went.

Lance is survived by his parents, Michelle and Romail Khan, his three older brothers, and a wide circle of extended family, friends, teammates, and mentors. Plans for a memorial service will be announced in the coming days, as the community comes together to honor and celebrate his extraordinary life.

As those who knew him grieve, they are also reminded of the legacy Lance leaves behind—one of perseverance, joy, faith, and love. He lived every day with purpose, and while his journey ended far too soon, the impact of his spirit will be felt for generations to come.
