SOUTH STRABANE, PA — The Washington County community is grieving the loss of Nathan Boyd, a 21-year-old motorcyclist who tragically died following a crash on Interstate 79 South Monday evening.
According to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, Boyd was the sole rider of a motorcycle that lost control and crashed near the Meadow Lands exit just before 8 p.m. Emergency responders transported him to Washington Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported lane restrictions in place between Exit 41 (Meadow Lands) and Exit 38 (I-70 West toward Wheeling) late into the night as authorities conducted their investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police, and it is not yet clear what led to the accident. No other vehicles or injuries have been reported at this time.
Tributes have begun pouring in across social media, where friends and family are remembering Nathan as a kind-hearted, adventurous young man with a deep love for motorcycles and the open road.
Nathan Boyd was a South Strabane native and beloved member of his community, remembered for his warm spirit, loyalty, and quiet strength. Loved ones say his passion for riding was matched only by his care for those around him.
Plans for a memorial service are expected to be announced in the coming days as the community comes together to honor his memory.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging motorists to use extra caution on the roadways and extend their thoughts and support to Boyd’s grieving family.
