Fifteen-year-old Gavin Myers, a sophomore at Fabius-Pompey, tragically lost his life this morning, Jan. 30, while riding as a passenger in a car driven by his sister.
At approximately 7:47 a.m., State Police in LaFayette responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 91 in the Town of Pompey.
According to the investigation, 17-year-old Gia Myers, of Jamesville, was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent southbound on State Route 91 when she lost control of the vehicle due to snowy road conditions. As a result, the car veered into the opposite lane and collided with a 2022 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 37-year-old from Fabius.
Authorities confirmed that Gavin was pronounced dead at the scene. Gia was transported to Upstate Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Both siblings were students in the Fabius-Pompey School District. In response to the tragedy, the district announced the cancellation of all after-school activities for Jan. 30 via Facebook.
