According to a press release issued by the New York State Park Police, the incident was reported at approximately 12:06 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded swiftly to the scene and initiated an extensive search across multiple terrains and platforms within the park.
Emergency crews utilized aerial drone surveillance, rescue vessels, ground teams patrolling the gorge, and visual scans from nearby overlooks in an effort to locate the individual. Despite several hours of concentrated search activity, no victim had been located as of Tuesday evening.
Authorities have not yet released any details regarding the identity of the person involved, and the investigation remains ongoing. It is currently being treated as a suspected suicide.
