43-year-old bounty hunter, Rodney Brown and 23-year-old private investigator, Jorge Moncivais charged with murder in death of Drew Knowles in Dallas

DALLAS, TX — A fatal shooting during a warrant execution has led to murder charges against two men in Dallas, sparking public concern and an active investigation by authorities.

Rodney Brown, 43, a bounty hunter, and Jorge Moncivais, 23, a licensed private investigator, have both been charged with murder in connection with the death of 33-year-old Drew Knowles. The incident took place in the 2700 block of Florence Street, where the suspects were allegedly attempting to apprehend Knowles under the authority of a warrant.

According to preliminary reports, Knowles was shot multiple times during the confrontation. After being struck, he attempted to flee but crashed his vehicle into a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Brown and Moncivais were arrested and are currently being held at the Dallas County Jail. Their bonds have been set at $500,000 each.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, with law enforcement working to determine whether proper protocol was followed during the attempted arrest. The case has drawn attention not only because of the deadly outcome but also due to the involvement of private individuals performing law enforcement duties.

Community members and civil rights advocates are calling for transparency, emphasizing the need for oversight when civilians are authorized to carry out potentially dangerous enforcement actions. The Dallas Police Department has stated that all aspects of the case — including the validity of the warrant, the suspects’ use of force, and their legal authority at the time — are being thoroughly reviewed.

As the investigation continues, many questions remain unanswered: Was the use of lethal force justified? Were the suspects acting within the scope of the law? And how can tragedies like this be prevented in the future?

The city now waits as prosecutors and investigators piece together the details of a confrontation that ended in violence and heartbreak.
