QUEENS, NEW YORK —A 45-year-old woman has died following a shooting incident in Queens on Sunday evening, marking a tragic loss for the local community. The victim, identified as Chenille Ramsey, a Jamaican national residing in New York, was pronounced dead at the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.
According to preliminary reports from the New York City Police Department (NYPD), officers responded to calls of gunfire in a residential area of Queens late Sunday night. Upon arrival, they discovered Ramsey critically injured. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities believe the shooting may have involved an individual known personally to Ramsey. However, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made at this time. A motive has not yet been confirmed.
