HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a tragic boat crash that claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others injured Friday night in Beaufort County.
Emergency crews from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious boating accident in the Skull Creek area near Hilton Head Island.
Upon arrival, first responders located the vessel involved and discovered four occupants on board. According to the Sheriff’s Office, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining two passengers sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, pending notification of their families by the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities have not released further details about what led to the crash, and the incident remains under active investigation by multiple agencies.
