Further details released after 19-year-old Felipe Acuna of Reno was killed in Sparks, Nevada shooting

SPARKS, Nev. — A tragic act of violence late Friday night has claimed the life of 19-year-old Felipe Acuna, a Reno resident, following a shooting in Sparks that has left the community stunned and grieving.

According to the Sparks Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:25 p.m. near 440 Greenbrae Drive. The shooting occurred in a parking lot where a gathering had taken place, and authorities believe an altercation between Felipe and the suspect escalated into gun violence.

Witnesses reported that during the confrontation, the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots at Felipe Acuna. Emergency personnel arrived quickly and rendered aid at the scene before transporting him to Renown Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, Felipe later succumbed to his injuries.

The Sparks Police Department has not yet released information about any arrests or suspect descriptions, and the investigation remains ongoing. They are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information related to the shooting to come forward.
