SPRINGFIELD, OH — A tragic mass shooting late Saturday night in Springfield has left one person dead and several others injured, igniting a multi-agency investigation into the senseless act of violence.
According to a press release from the City of Springfield, emergency personnel responded to reports of gunfire around 10:46 p.m. on June 28, 2025, in the 1000 block of West Rose Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a chaotic and heartbreaking scene — multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, some with critical injuries.
One victim, tragically identified as Keantra Mays, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her untimely death has sent waves of sorrow through the community, as friends and family remember her as a bright presence whose life was cut far too short.
At least five individuals in total were shot during the incident. Due to the severity of their injuries, two victims were airlifted via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, while others were transported by ambulance or private vehicle to Springfield Regional Medical Center and Kettering Health Springfield. The conditions of the surviving victims have not yet been publicly released.
The scene prompted a large-scale emergency response involving the Springfield Police Division, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and local EMS teams.
