Malibu, CA — Michael Madsen, the rugged-voiced actor best known for his unforgettable performances in Quentin Tarantino’s films Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, has died at the age of 67. Madsen was found unresponsive Thursday morning at his home in Malibu, according to his representatives. The cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest.
In a joint statement, Madsen’s managers Susan Ferris and Ron Smith, along with his publicist Liz Rodriguez, described the actor as a creative force who was entering a new phase in his career. “In the last two years, Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming features Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. His gravelly voice and intense screen presence made him a go-to actor for complex and often menacing characters.
While best known for his tough-guy roles, those close to Madsen remember him as thoughtful, artistic, and deeply passionate about his craft. His upcoming poetry collection and recent string of independent film projects marked a reflective and personal turn in his career.
