WEST CHESTER, PA — The community of West Chester is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Jessica Marie Garcia-Pascual, a 2024 graduate of Rustin High School and promising student at Temple University, who died unexpectedly on June 28, 2025.
Affectionately known as “Jessy,” Jessica was remembered by family and friends as a radiant and compassionate young woman whose energy and kindness touched all who knew her. Born on October 23, 2005, in West Chester, she was the firstborn child of Anayeli Pascual and Humberto Garcia and held a cherished place in a large and loving family.
Jessica’s life was marked by academic excellence, community involvement, and a vibrant personality that made her unforgettable. A proud graduate of Rustin High School, she was a member of the Honor Roll and participated in the Black Student Union and Walk Her Home. She had a deep commitment to service, volunteering at the St. Agnes Dorothy Day Center and the Westside Community Center — where she once participated in afterschool programs and later returned as a mentor.
Her educational journey included time at St. Agnes, Glen Acres Elementary, Fugett Middle School, and various enrichment camps. Jessica also pursued music, sports, and the arts, showcasing her curiosity and multifaceted talents. Her ambition led her to Temple University, where she completed her freshman year and dreamed of a future filled with opportunity.
Jessica balanced school with work at her family’s businesses and later at MAS Mexican Bar and Grill. Her independence shone through when she earned her bartending license at just 19. Despite her busy schedule, she found time to enjoy nature walks, Marsh Creek sunsets, 76ers games, beach trips, and holiday gatherings with family.
She had a distinct sense of style and spirit, reflected in her love for Hello Kitty, anime, floral tattoos, and Y2K fashion. Her connection to family was evident in the meaningful tattoos she wore, including one honoring her late uncle and another for her beloved bunny “BB.” She also adored her cats “Boots” and “Beans” and took great pride in her first car — complete with a personalized parking spot painted by her father.
