The South Coast community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 17-year-old Marin Stackpole, who tragically lost her life in a car accident on Route 6 in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, on the evening of Saturday, June 29, 2025.

Marin, a rising senior at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, was the sole occupant of a Nissan Sentra that suffered catastrophic damage in a multi-car crash near Jeannette Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m., involved two pickup trucks in addition to Marin’s vehicle. Two other individuals sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

The crash shut down a portion of Route 6 for several hours and remains under investigation by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. As of now, officials have not released information on what caused the collision.

Marin’s sudden death has left her family, friends, and the broader community devastated. A growing roadside memorial now stands where the crash occurred—adorned with flowers, candles, and handwritten messages that reflect the deep sorrow felt by those who knew and loved her.

“She lights up a room. She’s my best friend in the whole world and I can’t believe she’s gone,” said Jaylen Lussier, a close friend of Marin’s. Her impact on those around her was profound. Marin was known for her vibrant personality, her radiant smile, and a spirit that was as free as it was kind.

An online fundraiser organized in her memory describes her as “loving, beautiful, and unique in her style.” Marin was excited about her upcoming senior year and deeply involved in school life—particularly as a member of the volleyball team.

She also balanced two summer jobs, working at Cisco Brewery and Nick’s Pizza, a testament to her hardworking and ambitious nature. On the day of the crash, Marin had reportedly been at Fort Phoenix, a favorite spot of hers, taking photos with the sunset before heading home.

It’s a quiet, poignant image—one that captures Marin’s appreciation for the simple, beautiful moments in life. Born and raised in Fairhaven, Marin brought a special light into every room she entered.

Whether she was spending time with her family, helping a customer at work, or laughing with friends on the volleyball court, she exuded warmth, creativity, and compassion.

Her parents, Evan and Penni Stackpole, along with her older brother Ian, are now facing the unimaginable. Known as a close-knit, loving family, the Stackpoles have long been admired for their warmth and kindness—qualities that Marin clearly inherited and embodied throughout her life.
