Milwaukee, WI — A 22-year-old man is dead following a fatal shooting on Milwaukee’s north side late Friday evening, police confirmed.
The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. near North 61st Street and West Congress Street, according to the Milwaukee Police Department. Investigators said the victim, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, was transported by private vehicle to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim, pending notification of family.
Police Searching for Suspect
The Milwaukee Police Department reported that the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what may have led up to the violence.
At this time, no arrests have been made. Police said they are pursuing “all available leads” and continue to seek information from the public.

“This was somebody’s son, somebody’s family member, and now they’re gone at just 22 years old,” one community member said Saturday morning. “We’re tired of seeing young lives cut short.”
