Casey Whitlock, Matthew Jackson, and John McBoom Car Accident: Further details released in fiery I-64 crash that killed 3 in Woodford County

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities have released the identities of the three victims killed in a fiery crash Friday night on Interstate 64 in Woodford County, which shut down the highway for nearly 12 hours.

The Woodford County Coroner’s Office confirmed Sunday that 50-year-old Casey Whitlock, 43-year-old Matthew Jackson, and 39-year-old John McBoom all died in the collision.

The crash, reported at 7:36 p.m. on Sept. 12, prompted the county’s mass notification system to warn drivers of major delays as traffic was diverted from the area. The roadway remained closed through the night, with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announcing just after 7 a.m. Saturday that all lanes had reopened. Crews continued working along the shoulder after traffic resumed.

Woodford County Fire officials publicly thanked Franklin County and Frankfort Fire Departments for assisting in the emergency response, while also recognizing Versailles and Midway City Fire for standing by if additional help was needed.

Details of what led to the fatal crash remain under investigation. Officials say additional information will be released as it becomes available.
