The Archer Heights community in Chicago is mourning the tragic and senseless death of 17-year-old Rodrigo Franco, who was shot and killed Sunday evening inside a local Burger King.

According to Chicago Police, the shooting happened around 7:05 p.m. on November 2, 2025, at the Burger King located at 4060 S. Pulaski Road. Investigators say Rodrigo was inside the restaurant when a Jeep SUV pulled up outside. The suspect allegedly fired multiple shots toward the building, striking the teen in the head.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and Rodrigo was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed his identity Monday morning.
Police say the shooter fled immediately after the gunfire. No arrests have been made, and a motive behind the attack remains unknown. Area One detectives are actively investigating, reviewing possible surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses as they work to identify those responsible.
The sudden and violent loss of a young life has left family, friends, and neighbors devastated. Rodrigo is being remembered as a bright and kind young man, full of potential and dreams for the future. His death has once again reignited concerns about gun violence in Chicago — particularly the increasingly vulnerable impact it has on youth.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to contact police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers, hoping the community can help bring justice to Rodrigo’s grieving loved ones.
