Gary Matthews Lithonia: Community Mourns After Fatal Clarkston Shooting Outside Adult Club

The Clarkston community is reeling following a deadly shooting early Saturday morning that claimed the life of 31-year-old Gary Matthews of Lithonia and left another man critically injured. The incident occurred outside an adult entertainment club, casting a shadow of grief and concern over the area.

According to Clarkston police, officers were dispatched around 3:55 a.m. to 1353 Brockett Road, near U.S. 78, after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered Matthews had been fatally shot at the scene. Authorities confirmed he had been celebrating his birthday at the time of the attack.

Police say Matthews was inside a vehicle with three others — two men and two women — when two individuals exited a Jeep and opened fire. One of the passengers in Matthews’ vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The suspects fled the scene in the Jeep, which was later found abandoned.

The DeKalb County Police Department assisted Clarkston officers at the scene, but the investigation remains under the primary jurisdiction of Clarkston police. Authorities have not disclosed a motive or indicated whether the suspects knew the victims. No arrests have been made.
