A tragic incident took place Tuesday afternoon inside SM Center Sangandaan in Caloocan City after a young male individual fell from the mall’s sixth floor, resulting in his death. The shocking occurrence sent shoppers into panic and immediately prompted a heightened response from mall security and local law enforcement.

Authorities said the incident took place near the National Book Store area of the mall. Emergency responders arrived within minutes, but despite immediate intervention and attempts to render aid, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of injuries sustained from the fall.
Police have now opened an investigation into the case, preliminarily classifying it as an apparent suicide while detectives continue gathering statements, interviews, CCTV footage, and confirming the chain of events leading up to the fall. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed pending formal notification of next of kin.
Witnesses told authorities they observed the man moments before the fall, however investigators stress that speculation and dissemination of unverified details can potentially jeopardize the ongoing inquiry.
Caloocan City Police issued an urgent reminder and appeal to the public not to post, share, circulate, or engage with graphic videos and photos related to the incident online. Officials emphasized that doing so inflicts additional emotional harm to the victim’s family and violates the dignity of those involved.
“Sharing such content online is extremely disrespectful,” one officer stated. “We urge everyone to refrain from spreading sensitive material. Let investigators do their work and allow this family the privacy they deserve.”
Management of SM Center Sangandaan also extended condolences to the victim’s family and stated they will continue to fully cooperate with authorities and provide access to necessary evidence, records, and CCTV documentation.
This incident serves as a sobering reminder that mental health crises continue to affect countless individuals in silence. Authorities are urging the public to check on loved ones, friends, and peers and to encourage those struggling emotionally to reach out for support.
