Authorities in North Carolina have confirmed the death of 31-year-old Jevon Rashad Battle, whose body was discovered floating in the Tar River near Rocky Mount Mills on Monday, November 10, 2025. The tragic discovery comes a week after Battle was reported missing, leaving family, friends, and the local community heartbroken.

According to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Jevon Rashad Battle was first reported missing on November 3, prompting an extensive search that included K-9 units, drones, and multiple ground teams covering nearby residences and wooded areas. Despite these efforts, Battle remained missing until a passerby spotted a body in the river, leading authorities to the scene.

The Rocky Mount Fire Department’s swift water rescue team recovered the body, which was later confirmed to be Battle. Officials said the Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. At this time, it remains unclear how Battle ended up in the water or what circumstances led to his death.

The location where Battle was last seen is approximately 12 miles from where his body was found, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.
