Ravenna Train Accident: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by CSX Freight Train in Ravenna, Ohio

A fatal train incident in Ravenna, Ohio, brought emergency crews rushing to the scene Friday afternoon after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a westbound CSX freight train, according to the Ravenna Police Department.

The collision occurred around 2:51 p.m. on the tracks running between Chestnut Street and Diamond Street—an area known for regular train activity and, despite warning signs, occasional foot traffic from residents who use the route as an informal walking path.

Emergency responders arrived quickly after receiving reports of a person hit by a train. Once on scene, officials confirmed that the pedestrian had succumbed to their injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of family.

Investigators have not yet determined the circumstances that led to the deadly incident. Authorities have not said whether the individual was attempting to cross the tracks or was on the rails for another reason. CSX personnel are cooperating with local police as the investigation continues.

Train traffic through the area was temporarily suspended while first responders secured the scene and investigators began collecting evidence.
