North Forsyth High School Stabbing Leaves One Student Dead, Another Injured; Campus Temporarily Locked Down

A deadly stabbing at North Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Tuesday morning left one student dead and another critically injured, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The violent incident prompted a rapid police response and a temporary lockdown as authorities worked to secure the campus.

Deputies and EMS crews arrived within minutes of receiving reports of an altercation on school grounds. First responders administered emergency aid to the injured students while law enforcement swept the campus to ensure the safety of others.

Officials confirmed that one student succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The second student was rushed to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. Authorities have not released the identities or ages of the students involved.

The school was placed on lockdown for a period of time as deputies conducted a thorough search and secured the area. The Sheriff’s Office later announced that the situation had been contained and there was no ongoing threat to the public.

“We are deeply saddened by this act of violence that occurred today,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the families, students, and staff who have been affected.”

North Forsyth High School administrators announced that grief counselors will be available to students and staff in the coming days as the community grapples with the tragedy.
