Boston police are investigating a violent stabbing that unfolded early Wednesday morning on the campus of Boston Medical Center, leaving a hospital employee with life-threatening injuries.

According to authorities, officers were called to the area of 850 Harrison Avenue—the main address for the medical center—around 2 a.m. for a report of a stabbing. Police said the wounded staff member managed to reach the hospital on their own, where medical personnel discovered the severity of their injuries.
In a statement released later Wednesday morning, a Boston Medical Center spokesperson confirmed that the incident occurred on hospital property and involved a member of the staff.
“The hospital is open and operating normally,” the spokesperson said. “Boston Medical Center takes incidents such as these very seriously, and the safety and well-being of our patients and staff are always our priority.”
Police stated that a suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the hospital for evaluation. No details have been provided regarding the suspect’s identity, the events leading up to the attack, or a possible motive.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing as they work to piece together what happened during the early-morning incident. Authorities have not yet released further updates.
