Shreveport police reported that 20-year-old Christian Gant, who was on a food delivery run, was found shot inside his car on Thursday morning. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities still determining whether multiple individuals fired weapons during the incident. Corporal Chris Bordelon noted that while there is a possibility of more than one shooter, there is no indication that Gant was armed.
After the shooting, Gant’s vehicle collided head-on with another car on East Kings Highway near the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Emergency responders quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
As the investigation unfolded, officers were also called to a second location where another man—who was riding in the same vehicle as Gant—sustained a gunshot wound. This man, whose identity has not been released, managed to exit the vehicle and flee, eventually coming to a stop at Youree Drive and Southfield Road. His injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
The tragic death of Christian Gant has deeply affected the community and marks the third shooting incident involving a delivery person in recent months. In December, a Doordash driver was shot twice during a delivery at an apartment complex in Shreveport, and last month, Billy Jamison was robbed and fatally shot in a Walgreens parking lot while delivering pharmaceuticals.
In a heartfelt statement released on Friday evening, Councilmen Jim Taliaferro and Grayson Boucher expressed their condolences to the Gant family. “The loss of Christian Gant is a heartbreaking reminder of the violence that continues to impact Shreveport. No one should have their life cut short in such a senseless act,” they said, extending their thoughts to his family, friends, and everyone who knew him during this incredibly difficult time.
