PITTSBURGH — Authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead early Sunday morning in Pittsburgh’s Perry North neighborhood under circumstances police describe as suspicious.

According to officials, Pittsburgh police, fire crews, and EMS were dispatched to the 100 block of Watson Boulevard around 2 a.m. following reports of an unresponsive woman. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a woman unconscious and not breathing.

Despite emergency efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

Police have not released details about what led up to the incident but confirmed that the death is being treated as suspicious. Detectives from the Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit have taken over the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Michelle Sturdivant, 44, of Pittsburgh. The medical examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death, which have not yet been released.
