PITTSBURGH — Authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead early Sunday morning in Pittsburgh’s Perry North neighborhood under circumstances police describe as suspicious.
According to officials, Pittsburgh police, fire crews, and EMS were dispatched to the 100 block of Watson Boulevard around 2 a.m. following reports of an unresponsive woman. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a woman unconscious and not breathing.
Despite emergency efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Police have not released details about what led up to the incident but confirmed that the death is being treated as suspicious. Detectives from the Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit have taken over the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Michelle Sturdivant, 44, of Pittsburgh. The medical examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death, which have not yet been released.
The area around Watson Boulevard was temporarily secured as investigators processed the scene and gathered evidence. Residents in the neighborhood reported a noticeable police presence during the early morning hours as the investigation unfolded.
Authorities have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects. Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
