A fatal collision occurred on Interstate 64 East, just west of Settlers Landing Road, at approximately 1:21 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Virginia State Police.
Authorities reported that 52-year-old Theresa Michelle Tann was traveling westbound on I-64 when she veered into the eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with a 2016 Nissan Maxima driven by 35-year-old Latonya Alisha Foster.
Foster sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hampton Sentara Hospital Careplex, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Tann was also taken to the hospital but suffered only non-life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed that Tann will face charges for driving under the influence and manslaughter in connection with the tragic accident.
