Fatal Head-On Collision on State Route 17 in Harriman Under Investigation
HARRIMAN, NY – A fatal two-vehicle crash involving a box truck occurred in the early hours of February 28, 2025, on State Route 17, prompting an investigation by New York State Police.
Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 4:02 a.m., where they found a box truck and a black Honda on the west shoulder of the roadway.
Preliminary findings indicate that the box truck, driven by 23-year-old Mohammed Abdulla of Richmond, Virginia, was traveling northbound on Route 17 when it crossed into the southbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Honda sedan driven by 37-year-old Edwin A. Ottenwalder Nunez of Middletown. Tragically, Ottenwalder Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene.
