Authorities are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday in Eden, Maryland, resulting in the death of a four-year-old girl.
The young victim, Kinsley Parks of Crisfield, Maryland, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware, according to medical personnel.
State troopers from the Salisbury Barrack responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at approximately 7:50 a.m. on February 26, 2025, at the intersection of Route 13 and Stockyard Road.
A 2020 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Jalen Scott Evans, 30, the child’s father, was attempting to turn left from northbound Route 13 onto Stockyard Road when it was struck by a 2020 Mazda 3 traveling southbound on Route 13. The Mazda, driven by Ricky Leslie Lavere Jr., 45, collided with the rear passenger side of the Hyundai. Police believe Parks was properly secured in a child safety seat at the time of impact.
Emergency responders from the Maryland State Police Aviation Command airlifted Parks to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, while her father was transported via Allen Volunteer Fire Co. ambulance to the same hospital. No additional injuries were reported.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and Allen Volunteer Fire Co. assisted with road closures, which lasted approximately four hours. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under review, and authorities have not yet determined whether any charges will be filed.
