Tragedy struck the Belhaven neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi, on Saturday, January 20, 2025, as 23-year-old Tavoris Youngblood succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting at the Morningside Terrace Apartments. The fatal incident has left the community reeling as authorities work tirelessly to uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, confirmed Youngblood’s identity on Sunday, adding that the victim had been transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Youngblood passed away, leaving his family and community devastated.

According to the Capitol Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Morningside Terrace Apartments at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Youngblood lying near the apartment complex’s entrance, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders immediately rendered aid before transporting him to St. Dominic Hospital, where he was placed in the intensive care unit. Despite their efforts, Youngblood succumbed to his injuries late Saturday evening.
