LAFAYETTE, IN – Authorities are investigating a double homicide after Laportia Shenett, 34, and Kadeisha Ross, 28, were found dead inside an apartment on Cochise Drive early Saturday morning, according to Lafayette police.
Officers responded to the Village Square Apartments on the city’s east side around 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Shenett and Ross inside the residence.
Autopsy Confirms Homicide
Preliminary autopsy results released Monday by Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello confirmed that Shenett died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Ross suffered a single fatal gunshot wound. The deaths have been classified as homicides.
Authorities are awaiting final autopsy findings, pending toxicology reports, which could take up to two months.
Investigation Ongoing
As of Monday, no arrests have been made in connection with the killings. Lafayette police have not disclosed potential suspects or a possible motive, but they continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
Ross was a Lafayette resident, while a friend of Shenett said she was originally from Georgia.
The case remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the Lafayette Police Department or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
