BATON ROUGE, LA – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of 58-year-old Patricia Jackson, who was killed Wednesday afternoon outside Our Lady of the Lake (OLOL) Hospital in what police believe was a domestic-related incident.
The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) confirmed that 60-year-old Roland Domino was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. on the Mississippi River Bridge following an extensive search.
He has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. As of Thursday morning, his bond had not yet been set.
Deadly Confrontation in Hospital Parking Lot
The fatal shooting occurred around 3:50 p.m. in the 5000 block of Hennessy Boulevard, within the hospital parking lot behind the Walgreens store at the corner of Essen Lane and Hennessy Boulevard.
According to BRPD Chief TJ Morse, Jackson, an OLOL employee, was leaving work when she engaged in a verbal altercation with Domino in the parking lot.
The dispute quickly escalated, with Domino allegedly opening fire, striking Jackson multiple times before fleeing the scene.
As a precaution, OLOL Hospital was placed on lockdown for approximately an hour following the shooting. The lockdown was lifted shortly before 5 p.m., according to a hospital spokesperson.
Suspect Apprehended Without Incident
Authorities located Domino on the Mississippi River Bridge around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night. He was approached by uniformed officers and taken into custody without resistance.
Police have also confirmed that Domino has a criminal history, including prior charges of forgery, simple burglary, aggravated assault, and simple battery.
