Lynn Ban, a renowned jewelry designer and cast member of Netflix’s reality series Bling Empire: New York, has passed away at the age of 51, her family announced on Wednesday.
Ban’s son, Sebastian, shared the news on her verified Instagram account, accompanied by a series of family photos. “My mum passed away on Monday,” he wrote. “I know she wanted to share her journey after her accident and brain surgery, so I thought she would appreciate one last post sharing the news with those who supported her.”
Late last month, Ban had shared details of a skiing accident during a family trip to Aspen, Colorado, which ultimately led to her hospitalization.
“On Christmas Eve, on a beautiful sunny day in Aspen, I had a ski accident that changed my life,” Ban wrote in a post. “At the top of the mountain, I caught a tip and face-planted. Luckily, I always wear a helmet. It didn’t seem serious at the time, and I was able to ski to the bottom. Erring on the side of caution, I got checked out by ski patrol for a concussion. They cleared me.”
Despite experiencing a headache, Ban planned to return to the slopes after lunch. However, a paramedic suggested she go to the hospital for further scans, a decision she said “saved my life.”
“I went in a taxi with Jett, and within 30 minutes, they told us I had a brain bleed and needed to be airlifted to the trauma hospital,” she wrote. “The last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy, with [my husband] Jett by my side.”
Born in Singapore, Ban lived and worked across New York, London, and Paris. Her website highlighted her global travels, which greatly influenced her unique sense of style and approach to fashion, design, and culture.
Recognized by top stylists and editors, Ban’s jewelry was featured in major fashion publications like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, and W Magazine. Her pieces were worn by global icons, including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone.
Ban’s passing has left a profound void in the fashion and entertainment world, as well as in the hearts of her loved ones.
