TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida State University community is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of Thamesh Ramjit, a vibrant and beloved member of the Student Foundation Fundraising Team, who tragically passed away following a car accident earlier this week. He was a promising young student with boundless potential, whose life was cut short far too soon.

Thamesh, a dedicated Finance and Management Information Systems major, was known by friends, faculty, and peers as someone who could instantly light up a room with his energy, laughter, and genuine warmth. His loss has sent waves of grief throughout the FSU campus, particularly among those who had the joy of working with him closely through the Student Foundation.
In a statement shared by the Student Foundation, Thamesh was remembered as “a light in every room, a friend to all, and a true embodiment of joy, ambition, and warmth.” The group mourns not only the absence of his presence, but the dreams and leadership he carried so effortlessly.
“Whether it was cheering on the Noles, cracking a joke to lift spirits, or offering a listening ear when someone needed it most, Thamesh made an impact that words can hardly capture,” the statement continued. “He brought people together—not just through what he did, but through who he was.”
Originally from Florida, Thamesh was widely admired by classmates and professors alike for his curiosity, intelligence, and willingness to support those around him. He was known for being the first to volunteer for a cause, the last to leave an event until everything was packed up, and the kind of person who remembered the little things about everyone he met.
The FSU Student Foundation has announced a memorial vigil in honor of Thamesh’s life and legacy. The event will take place tomorrow from 7–8 p.m. at the BSU House, and all students, faculty, and community members are invited to attend. The vigil will serve as an opportunity for friends and loved ones to share memories, light candles, and celebrate the life of a young man who meant so much to so many.
While details surrounding the car accident have not been publicly released, FSU officials have expressed their condolences and emphasized that support services are available to students in need during this time of mourning.
Counseling and grief resources are being offered through the University Counseling Center, and students are encouraged to reach out if they need support.
As the university community gathers to honor Thamesh Ramjit’s memory, the overwhelming message from those who knew him is clear: his time here may have been brief, but the love, laughter, and inspiration he gave will remain forever etched in their hearts.
Thamesh is survived by a loving family, many friends, and a campus family that will never forget the incredible light he brought into their lives.
