The community of Wyandotte, Michigan, is deeply mourning the tragic loss of Amanda Grace Kish, who passed away on October 22, 2022, at the young age of 18. Amanda’s vibrant spirit, dedication, and warmth touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Life of Promise and Dedication
Born on May 3, 2004, Amanda was the beloved daughter of Frances Kish and the loving sister of Samantha Marie Kish and Joshua Xavier Kish. She was the cherished granddaughter of Rebecca Collins and the late Steve Collins. Amanda’s family was the cornerstone of her life, and she shared a close bond with her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A recent graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in June 2022, Amanda excelled academically and was an active participant in extracurricular activities. Her passion for cheerleading was evident from a young age, dedicating 14 years to the sport and leading her team to achieve the highest scores in the school’s history.
Amanda had recently embarked on her higher education journey as a freshman at Central Michigan University, where she aspired to become a chef and dreamed of owning her own restaurant. Her enthusiasm for the culinary arts was matched by her commitment to making meaningful connections with those around her.
A Tragic and Untimely Passing
On October 21, 2022, while traveling home from Central Michigan University, Amanda was involved in a severe automobile accident on US 127. She was rear-ended, causing her vehicle to lose control and cross the median into oncoming traffic. Amanda was airlifted to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, where she fought valiantly for 36 hours before succumbing to her injuries.
Community Support and Remembrance
In the wake of this heartbreaking event, the Wyandotte community rallied around the Kish family, exemplifying the profound impact Amanda had on those around her. A candlelight vigil was held at Bishop Park, where scores of friends and family gathered, many donning Amanda’s favorite color, red, to honor her memory. The outpouring of love and support was a testament to the deep connections she fostered throughout her life.
Final Farewell
Funeral services were held to celebrate Amanda’s life and legacy. Visitation took place on November 1, 2022, at Molnar Funeral Homes – Nixon Chapel in Wyandotte, followed by a service on November 2, 2022, at Gateway Church of Christ in Southgate. Amanda was laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock.
