A 35-year-old man was fatally shot late Thursday night while driving through the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue.
Police stated that the victim was inside a vehicle when an unidentified individual on foot opened fire. In an apparent attempt to escape, the victim’s vehicle struck two parked cars.
Emergency responders transported the man to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to the torso and head.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 35-year-old Tyrone Booker.
No suspects are in custody, and Area Four detectives are actively investigating the case.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details about the circumstances of the shooting or a potential motive.
