MARION, VA — Authorities have released further details regarding a shooting that took place early Tuesday morning, identifying 41-year-old Amanda Davis as the suspect in what police are calling a domestic violence incident.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., officers with the Marion Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of First Street following reports of a possible gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper shoulder.
During the course of their investigation, officers determined that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between the victim and his wife, Amanda Davis. According to police, Davis fired a weapon, striking the man during the altercation.

The injured man was initially transported to Smyth County Community Hospital and was later transferred to Bristol Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that he was treated and has since been released from the hospital.
Amanda Davis is currently being held without bond at the regional jail in Abingdon. She faces an aggravated assault charge as a result of the incident.
Marion Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be considered pending further review. They also reiterated the importance of seeking help in situations involving domestic violence, encouraging anyone in need to contact local resources.
