Maci Westmeister Obituary – Cause of Death Shelby, Ohio: In loving memory of Maci Westmeister “her artistic talents were evident from a young age”

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Maci Elizabeth Westmeister, age 20, of Shelby, Ohio. Maci left this world far too soon on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Mansfield, leaving behind a community of family, friends, and loved ones who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

Born on June 9, 2004, in Mansfield, Maci was a vibrant light from the very beginning. A proud graduate of Shelby High School’s Class of 2021, Maci’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with talent, laughter, and love. Her artistic abilities were evident from an early age — an innate gift she nurtured and grew into something truly remarkable. Whether through freehand drawing, sewing, cooking, or painting, Maci could take the simplest materials and transform them into works of art that spoke directly to the soul.

Creativity flowed through her effortlessly, but so too did her humor, compassion, and zest for life. Those who knew Maci were drawn to her quick wit, infectious laughter, and her remarkable ability to make any space feel warmer simply by being in it. Her love for animals, especially her cherished cats, was just another reflection of her boundless heart and capacity for unconditional affection.

Maci had the unique ability to adapt and connect wherever she went — a true chameleon whose presence brought ease and joy to every gathering. She was the friend who made you feel seen, the daughter who made her parents endlessly proud, and the spirit who could lift the heaviest heart with a single smile.

She is survived by her devoted parents, Shawn and Lynn Westmeister; her Godfather, Fr. Nick Cunningham; her grandparents, Maggie Fetzer, John and Rita West, and Kimberly and Mark Meister; and her great-grandparents, Herbert and Rebecca Coon. Maci also leaves behind a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins: Eddie (Liz) Fetzer, Marc Fetzer, Zach Perry, Travis Meister, Amanda (Jake) Rhine, Mikatlyn (Kyle) Beninghof, and Johnny West, along with countless cousins who adored her. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, William Fetzer, and her uncle, Jeremy Perry, both of whom she now joins in eternal peace.

Maci’s family, rooted in the traditions and values of Westmeister Farm, is honoring her beautiful life and legacy through the establishment of the Maci Westmeister Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will empower young people to pursue their dreams with the same courage, creativity, and compassion that Maci embodied so effortlessly.

At Westmeister Farm, love, family, and connection form the very foundation of everything that is done. Through the scholarship, Maci’s memory will continue to inspire new generations — nurturing spirits who will forge their own bold paths, just as she did.

In honoring Maci’s life, we remember not just the loss we feel, but the beauty she gave us: the laughter she sparked, the art she created, the friendships she nurtured, and the love she so freely shared. Her legacy is not measured in years but in the countless lives she touched in her all-too-brief time with us.

A celebration of Maci’s life will be held soon, with details to be shared by her family in the coming days. Those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to support the Maci Westmeister Memorial Scholarship or simply live a little more bravely, more creatively, and more compassionately — just as Maci taught us all to do.
