HOPEWELL, VA — Authorities in Hopewell are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred just after midnight Thursday, leaving one man dead and a woman in custody.

According to the Hopewell Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of South 4th Avenue at approximately 12:01 a.m. on May 1, 2025, after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered 41-year-old Sharod Tucker of Hopewell suffering from a stab wound. Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested 46-year-old Raimona Renee Freeman, also of Hopewell, without incident. She has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and is currently being held without bond at Riverside Regional Jail.
The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detectives have not yet released details on a possible motive or the relationship between Tucker and Freeman.
