Temple Police have identified two individuals who died in a suspected murder-suicide Friday night in West Temple.
The victim has been confirmed as 37-year-old Kastady Smith of Temple, while the suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Joseph Smith, also of Temple.
Authorities responded to reports of a shooting on January 24 around 8 p.m. in the 9000 block of Cantera Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered one individual who had been shot. Later, the suspect was found deceased inside the residence, according to a Saturday morning update from police.
Preliminary findings suggest the incident stemmed from a domestic violence situation. Police have stated that the area has since been cleared, and there is no ongoing threat to the public as of 12:44 a.m. Saturday.
