Louis Meshonek Woodmere Car Accident: Retired NYPD detective killed, wife fighting for life after Friday morning crash in Five Towns

A devastating car crash in Woodmere on Friday morning, June 6, claimed the life of Louis Meshonek, a retired NYPD detective and well-known member of the Five Towns community. The fatal accident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Howard Avenue and West Broadway, when the vehicle carrying Mr. Meshonek and his wife overturned.

Emergency responders from Hatzalah, the Nassau County Police Department, and local fire departments arrived swiftly at the scene. Hatzalah paramedics initiated life-saving measures while firefighters worked to extricate the couple, who were trapped inside the vehicle.

Despite their efforts, Louis Meshonek, believed to be in his early 70s, was found in traumatic arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, who sustained moderate injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains under medical care.
