47-year-old Ryan Henderson named as man killed in Far South Side shooting that left 11-year-old girl injured

SAN ANTONIO, TX — A man is dead and a child was injured following a shooting Thursday evening at an apartment complex on the city’s Far South Side, authorities said.

San Antonio Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 7:30 p.m. at The Reserve at Lone Oak Apartments, located off Liedecke Road near Loop 1604.

When officers arrived, they found 47-year-old Ryan Henderson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the complex parking lot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that Henderson died from multiple gunshot wounds and officially ruled his death a homicide.

In the aftermath of the shooting, an 11-year-old girl who was walking with her mother nearby was also injured. Police say she was struck by bullet fragments, resulting in minor graze wounds. She was treated at the scene and is expected to recover.

No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not yet released any information about a suspect or motive. The incident remains under investigation by the San Antonio Police Department.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
