The BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Aman Grewal, former BCNU President, who passed away unexpectedly. Aman served as president from 2021 to 2023, a time during which she demonstrated extraordinary leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication to nurses across British Columbia and Canada.
Throughout her tenure, Aman stood as a fearless advocate for the rights, well-being, and recognition of nurses. She played a pivotal role in negotiating the 2022–2025 provincial collective agreement, working tirelessly to ensure fair conditions, workplace safety, and the professional respect that nurses deserve. Her leadership came at a critical time when the healthcare system faced immense pressures, and her efforts left a lasting impact on the lives of countless healthcare workers and patients alike.
Aman’s advocacy extended beyond the borders of British Columbia. As a member of the national executive board of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, she represented BCNU members on the national stage, amplifying their voices and championing initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen the nursing profession throughout Canada.
Those who knew Aman Grewal remember her not only for her professional achievements but also for her kindness, strength, and relentless pursuit of justice. She was deeply respected by her colleagues, loved by her friends, and admired by the many members she served with such passion.
